The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
If you can explain the significance of the numbers 4-8-15-16-23-42, have a theory about how polar bears got to a tropical island or have remodeled your living room to look like “The Hatch,” the opportunity of a lifetime has arrived. No, it’s not a position with the Dharma Initiative: It’s The Lost Weekend, Geeks Who Drink’s all-Lost quiz and a chance to turn all that knowledge about the most famous castaways since Gilligan’s Island into cold, hard cash.
Thirty or so teams will compete for a winner-take-all prize by answering brain-bending questions on the intricacies of television’s most intricate show ever. If you don’t know exactly what a “frozen donkey wheel” is, how Dr. Arzt met his end or “What lies in the shadow of the statue,” you’ll be really lost on this one. “If you’ve only seen a couple of episodes, you probably want to stay home,” admits quizmaster-in-chief John Dicker. “This is going to be hard, and we don’t make any apologies for that.”
The Lost Weekend starts at 1 p.m. today at the Irish Rover, 54 South Broadway. Registration is $30 per team, with a six-member maximum; for more information, visit www.geekswhodrink.com or call 303-532-4737.
