Can you create a comic in 24 hours? That’s the question the comic-book world asks every October when it challenges cartoonists to come up with 24 pages in 24 hours, complete with story, art and lettering. Last year, several local comic-book artists took the “dare” — as 24HourComics.com calls it — and the results of that mad burst of creativity is now gathered into a book, 24 Hour Comic People Anthology, published by Denver’s own local comics collective, Squid Works. Tonight at 6 p.m. at Miss Prothero’s Books, 112 Santa Fe Drive, contributing artists will read from their works.
Stan Yan from Squid Works is proud of what the local scribblers were able to accomplish. “Seems like every year, they elevate their game,” Yan notes. “This year, there’s a lot of top-notch stuff — better, even, than some national stuff created in longer time periods.”
