For many people, April 15 is a taxing experience, so Warm Cookies of the Revolution is throwing a day-after Tax Day Carnival, aka “The Esteemed Philosophe and Adventurer, Dr. Fosberry, & His Civicus Carnivale Spectacular: Burlesque & A Lively Discussion of Issues Pertaining to Taxation, The Publick Sphere, and The Pursuit of Happiness in Denver Town.”

“Tax Day, in theory, should be a day when we celebrate putting our moral values into practice, but the reality is, it’s nothing like that — it’s a dreaded day,” says Warm Cookies founder Evan Weissman. “We figured, ‘Let’s turn it on its head, and let’s explore why that’s the case.’”

The free event will include performances by mentalist magician Professor Phelyx, juggler Lo Lo Flamingo and stilt walker Alexis Scissorlegs, as well as a belly dancer, hula hoop dancer, ice sculptor and face painter. Various groups involved in taxation issues will provide information and different perspectives.

The program starts at 6 p.m. at the McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Avenue. For more in-formation, visit warmcookiesoftherevolution.org.
