If perusing art from all over Colorado and across the nation is how you’d like to spend the weekend, the Boulder Festival of the Arts has exactly what you’re looking for. One of dozens of juried fine-art showcases produced by Howard Alan Events, the Boulder fest starts this morning and continues tomorrow at the Twenty Ninth Street shopping center.

While Howard Alan shows are not necessarily tailored to the location, spokeswoman AnaBelle Dweck notes, variety is tantamount to the jurying process: “We want to provide a true variety and not overwhelm the show with any particular medium.” And there’s pretty much nothing you won’t see here. “There is so, so much to see,” Dweck continues. “It’s truly an eclectic mix — paintings, life-sized sculptures, functional ceramics, glass, jewelry, collage, mixed media….” Needless to say, it’s an extensive list, as well as a collector’s heaven. “What I like about it is that we give people the opportunity to connect again with an artist they’re familiar with, but they can also explore the work of new artists and emerging talent who are using the festival as a platform to reach new clients. And it’s all in one location,” she adds.
