Writing is a lonely job. Sometimes you wonder if it’s really worth it — especially when you can see your apartment’s pool from your desk. Those glistening sun-worshipers just look so goddamn refreshed and uninhibited and happy that I — er, you, that is — just have to ask yourself what, exactly, you’re doing inside.
Starting today at 6 p.m., forget the solitude and dive into two weeks of camaraderie and craft at the Lighthouse Literary Festival, which runs through June 23. “It’s a way to get people out of their day-to-day lives,” says media contact Andrea Dupree. “Overall, the vision behind it is to create these two weeks where you’re immersed in this culture of writers and writing.”
Events include intensive writing workshops, craft seminars and evening salons. Tickets range from $10 for individual sessions to $700 for an all-access festival pass. For locations, schedules and other information, go to www.lighthousewriters.com/litfest.htm.
