What in the world do you get when you mix musicians and jugglers with modern and contemporary art and video games? How about if you add a record-breaking paint-by-number canvas, African drummers, Brazilian martial-arts flash dancers and a free weekend at the Denver Art Museum? Answer: You’ve got one hell of a party.

Starting today at 10 a.m. and ending at midnight, What in the World? A Free Denver Art Museum Weekend kicks off as Mayor John Hickenlooper paints the first section of the three-feet-wide by 400-foot-long paint-by-number canvas (that’s Guinness World Record status, folks) and the doors open for a weekend of art and entertainment. Throughout the day and night, enjoy free museum tours, check out the final weekend of RADAR: Selections From the Collection of Vicki and Kent Logan, add your flair to the communal painting, enjoy live music, watch various entertainers in the Museum’s Martin Plaza and rent a Game Boy for Digital Gallery Games that include — among others — a Tetris-like puzzle that replaces falling blocks with falling pieces of a DAM painting.

If that’s not enough to lure you from your heavenly air conditioning, then try being one of the first people in the world to see Clyfford Still Unveiled: Selections From the Estate, which kicks off at 11 a.m. with a gallery tour of thirteen major works by the first-generation abstract expressionist.
