What happens when diverse artistic mediums collide? Find out at the Mash-Up Party at BMoCA, a cultural extravaganza fueled by libations from a cash bar. “I was thinking it would be cool to do a party where we mix different [art] styles together,” says Sarah Kinn, coordinator of adult programs at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. “We came up with this idea.” The party will give attendees a chance to make their own mash-up silkscreens while enjoying drinks and complimentary snacks.
From 9 to 10 p.m., as four artists paint on the same canvas, sonic artist Jason Corder will use a laptop to manipulate real-time data generated by the painters’ brushes into a unique soundscape. Before and after that, DJ CJ will play your “standard” music mash-ups to keep people dancing.
The party runs from 7 p.m. to midnight at the museum, 1750 13th Street in Boulder; sponsors Jamba Juice and Avery Brewing will be giving away samples all night. Tickets are $10, and all proceeds will benefit ARTcore, BMoCA’s adult art-education program. For more info, visit www.bmoca.org or call 303-443-2122.
