Luxe De Vil Salon isn’t a gallery, but the place has managed to thrive and survive on Santa Fe Drive by throwing some of the best First Friday art parties in town.
This month, co-owners Jenny and Christy D. and their manager, Cat Stolzenbach, will dedicate their monthly bash to a cause near and dear to their hearts: MaxFund, the no-kill animal shelter where they’ve all adopted furry friends.
Pins for Pups, which runs from 3 to 10 p.m. today, features a silent auction in which thirty bowling pins will be auctioned off. All thirty have been painted or refurbished by local artists. Sweet Action ice cream, Belemonti’s pizza, Mile High Vienna Stand, Leopold Brothers and the Cupcake Truck will also be there, donating product or profits, along with several area businesses who gave door prizes and silent auction items (True Blue Tattoo donated the bowling pins, for instance). “We wanted to get local businesses involved,” says Stolzenbach, explaining how Luxe reached out to its neighbors. “Most of the other sponsors are on Santa Fe or nearby.”
MaxFund will have its adoption van on site at Luxe, 657 Santa Fe Drive, during the afternoon. For more information, visit www.luxedevilsalon.com or call 303-943-9486.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
