Today at the Denver Art Museum, employees uncrated and hung a very special piece by Vincent Van Gogh. In this particular painting, “Edge of a Wheatfield with Poppies,” Van Gogh lightened up his palette considerably, using magentas against indigo with crisp reds. The piece will join more than seventy others in the museum’s new Becoming Van Gogh exhibit, which explores Van Gogh’s life and work.

“You’ve got an extraordinary moment that took seven years to pull together, so make every effort possible to come see the assemblage of these works,” says exhibit co-curator Timothy Standring. “These things have come from the four corners of the Earth. It took a whole village to put this exhibition together, and this is the result to all of that.”
