The 24th annual Old West Show & Auction gets under way at the Denver Merchandise Mart today, with displays featuring classic pieces of the Wild West — hats, boots, saddles and moccasins — lining the Mart’s expo hall this weekend. The really rare artifacts are up for auction tomorrow. Two years ago, a photo of Billy the Kid sold for more than $2 million; some of the more outstanding pieces this round include a large selection of the original Lone Ranger’s personal effects that were donated by his daughter, as well as a massive collection of designer horse bits and an original painting by Eanger Irving.
Keep reading for a look at what you’ll see at the Old West show.
