Keep Westword Free
We’re aiming to raise $20,000 by April 26. Your support ensures Westword can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Ever have that dream where all your teeth fall out? What about the one where you look in the mirror and your hair is gone? Make the latter a reality — and show solidarity for children with cancer — by shaving your head this morning during the St. Baldrick’s Event at Fadó Irish Pub, 1735 19th Street. More than thirty shavees and shavers are already signed up and working toward the goal of raising $15,000.
“Once you come to an event, you just really realize how much everyone who is involved feels this in their heart,” says organizer Amber Brown. “It’s a very powerful experience, even though it’s just shaving heads.”
KHOW radio host Peter Boyles and CW2 start broadcasting live at 6 a.m., and Fadó will offer a discounted Irish breakfast; the shaving continues until noon. If losing your locks isn’t in the cards, you can still make a difference by donating online at www.stbaldricks.org or by calling 1-888-889-BALD.
