Tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., non-profit group Prax(us) joins forces with fair trade-supporting retailer Ten Thousand Villages (2626 E. 3rd Ave.) for three hours of shopping for fundraising. As Colorado’s only organization specializing in helping victims of domestic human trafficking, Prax(us) is a small but mighty group that uses community outreach to connect and educate homeless and at-risk youth.

As a not-for-profit store, Ten Thousand Villages works to eliminate unfair labor practices by only selling fair trade goods, brought in from around the world. Together, the two organizations hope to be twice as powerful in providing help to those without a voice. 

“Both Prax(us) and Ten Thousand Villages focus on the root causes — poverty and exploitation,” says Prax(us)’s Salvador Armendariz of the two non-profits joining forces. During the three-hour shopping event, 15 percent of all goods sold — jewelry, home decor, textiles and more — will go to Prax(us), which uses funds to help those young people most susceptible to becoming involved in forced labor and sex work.
