’Tis the season for holiday shopping, and fans of local art will be thrilled to hear that Marie E.v.B. Gibbons is hosting a Mad Hatter Tea Party Trunk Show, featuring selections of her own work and that of her daughter, Haley Mariah Gibbons, at her studio.
“It’s basically a little holiday studio sale of my work, and [that of] Haley Mariah, who works in a variety of anything and everything,” Gibbons says. “She always does something amazingly cool; she’ll have some original drawings that have been turned into embroideries on designer fabrics on really luscious pillows, and living toys — recycled old animatronic toys.”
Most of the items will range in price from $25 to $300. “I’m dubbing them artful stocking stuffers,” she adds.
Gibbons’s son, Chandler, is visiting from Japan and might also have time to create some works in the studio, making it a real family affair. Stop by EvB Studio, 4343 West 44th Avenue, today from 2 to 8 p.m.; all artists will be in the gallery starting around 4 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.
