$20,000

This, declares Jesse Morreale, is “where all the dive bar, rockabilly, East Colfax crowd crashes the Cherry Creek ’hood.” He’s talking about Rockabilly and Ribs, which goes today from 2 to 7 p.m. and continues every Sunday through September 5 at Tambien, Morreale’s rollicking Mexican cantina at 350 Steele Street. “We do this event for twenty weeks and do it for well over 10,000 people, and it’s a huge hit because the band lineup is great, the food is off the chain and cheap, and it’s a melting pot of really cool people,” says Morreale, who along with exec chef Sean Yontz, also plans to rock Steele Street with a vintage car show, scooter rally and a Roller Dolls fundraiser as part of the summer fun.

Today, the last day of the season, enjoy music by Halden Wofford & the Highbeams, canned Mexican beers and a Mexican barbecue menu that pimps Yucatan-style turkey legs, chile-rubbed whole chickens cooked on Tecate beer cans, lamb barbacoa, carne asada, chipotle-rubbed spare ribs, corn on the cob, pickled eggs, potato salad, baked beans and chile-specked watermelon and mango. “We always sell out of ribs first,” warns Morreale, who recommends showing up early. Sundays, 2-7 p.m. Starts: April 25. Continues through Sept. 5, 2010
