Keep Westword Free
We’re aiming to raise $20,000 by April 26. Your support ensures Westword can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Tonight’s Naughty Mambo Pin-Up Party is a celebration of mothers — albeit an unusual, racy celebration. Paper Dolls and Westword contributing photographer Jim J. Narcy have been shooting sexy frames of contestants for several weeks; tonight’s bash will crown the winners of Paper Dolls’ Mother’s Day Pin-Up Contest.
Shooting the photographs “has been a joy,” Narcy says. “Everybody says, ‘Oh, I’m so scared. I don’t know if I can do it.’ I have to have a counseling session just to convince them they can, but once they’re in front of the camera…holy cow. It’s a blast.” And to fete the women brave enough to unleash their inner Bettie Page, the Naughty Mambo Party will feature comedy, music, dance performances, a fashion show, gift-bag giveways and an art show. Yowza!
General admission is $10 to $12; VIP tickets, which include dinner and Flying Dog brews, are $25. The party gets started at 8 p.m. at 3 Kings Tavern, 60 South Broadway. Call 303-777-7370 for info; go to www.letbeautyloose.com/paperdolls for tickets.
