Whet your appetite with a smorgasbord of distilled delights at tonight’s first annual Moovers & Shakers mixology competition at the Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder. You’ll be courted by spirited local barkeeps — all looking to sway you (and your vote) while competing for the cash prize awarded for best new cocktail. Competitors hail from six of Boulder’s premier restaurants — Bramble & Hare, Frasca, the Kitchen, Oak at Fourteenth, Q’s Corner Bar and SALT — to engage in what Dairy boardmember Sharon Nehls calls “the art of cocktail making.”

Delectable small bites will be served for sopping up the locally refined Sno Vodka from J&L Distilling Company. After you’ve sampled and voted, stick around for a 7:45 p.m. screening of the feature-length documentary Hey Bartender, about two ‘tender hopefuls who get mixed up in the Big Apple’s cocktail scene. Home-hitting aspect: This year, Oak is up for Best Restaurant Bar in a NOLA cocktail competition showcased in the film.

Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Dairy’s main lobby. Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door. For more information, visit thedairy.org or call 303-440-7826.
