Christmas Eve comes but once a year, and so does Heebonism, simultaneously — because why would any self-respecting young Jewish person want to sit at home watching midnight Mass on television when he or she could be out having fun? This annual night on the town for Jewish professionals, now in its seventh year, returns tonight to the 1up Colfax (where it served last year as the opening event for the club’s remodeled digs) for a party with no jingle bells, reindeer or choir music. Instead, participants will be entertained by vintage video gaming, comedian Ben Kronberg, Jewish rapper Kosha Dillz and a trio of DJs.
“Heebonism is for everyone — Tinder-powered, looking for a soulmate, happily married, freshly divorced or decidedly celibate,” says Eric Elkins of E-3 Events, which puts on the Isro-centric party. “Whether you’re looking to hang with old friends, cross paths with the love of your life or just drink the night away — which may or may not be my three priorities — Heebonism has it all.”
Doors open at 8:30 p.m. at the 1up, 717 East Colfax Avenue, and stay open until let-out; for tickets, $18 in advance, go to e-3events.com, or take your chance at the door, where admission goes up to $25 (or $20 with a donation of three non-perishable food items).
