It’s difficult to tell who loves marijuana-themed shows more: comics or the comedy fans. The former get to dust off material they can’t use at “clean” shows, and the latter get to hear jokes tailored to their taboo habits. On the annual sacred stoner holiday, 4/20, comedy promotion team United Front Productions will host Stoned Cold Comedy, a cannabis-centric standup show featuring Elliot Woolsey, Derrick Rush, Ben Adams and Deacon Gray.

“This is a way to bring people together,” says event organizer Terri Barton. “Marijuana is a commonality, and we wanted to have some fun with it. A lot of people drink at comedy shows, but many also indulge in marijuana — or whatever else. But this show will appeal to different parts of the public, not just the smokers. There will be pot references, but these are very bright comics we’ve chosen; they’re not idiot stoner comics. I think this show will prove that laughter really is the best ‘medicine.’”

Stoned Cold Comedy begins at 8 p.m. tonight at Jake’s Food & Spirits, 3800 Walnut Street; tickets are $5. For more information, visit jakesdenver.com.
