There are many types of sweaters – the cardigan, the sweater vest, the Cosby sweater – but none nearly as hideous as the Christmas sweater. Really, the fact that there might be any excuse at all to wear anything as garishly awful as, say, a Rudolph-adorned red-and-green pullover with rhinestones knitted into it some kind of miracle.
A Christmas miracle.
So here’s your excuse: the Mile High Bowl Ugly Sweater Holiday Party, the second annual party of its kind from the Mile High Bowl Association, an organization dedicating to bringing a college football bowl game to Denver. Though MHBA founder and president Ted Tseng admits that ugly sweaters don’t have a whole lot to do with football, the timing of the party coincides roughly with the end of the regular football season, and ticket proceeds go toward that noble bowl goal. The price includes drinks, “heavy hors d’oeuvres,” karaoke and a pretty sweet door prize: two tickets to the BSC championship game in Glendale, Arizona, airfare included. Thanks, Santa.
Suit up in your Christmas worst tonight from 6 to 11:30 p.m. at the Blake Street Tavern, 2301 Blake Street. Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 at the door; for tix and more information, go to www.milehighbowl.com.
