Hi, how are you?
Fine, how’ve you been?
Terrific.
That’s wonderful. How are the kids?
They’re great. So what’s new?
The answer to that question is the latest book by Debra Fine, Denver’s queen of small talk, conversation expert and author of The Fine Art of Small Talk: How to Start a Conversation, Keep it Going, Build Networking Skills — and Leave a Positive Impression.
Fine’s latest work tackles a bigger topic: big talk. While the first book got us through awkward social situations, The Fine Art of Big Talk: How to Win Clients, Deliver Great Presentations, and Solve Conflicts at Work covers tactics and techniques for major conversations with the boss, an employee or overbearing co-workers.
Fine will discuss and sign copies of her book at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th Street (presumably, she’ll keep the conversation flowing). For information, call 303-436-1070 or log on to www.tatteredcover.com.
