There may be plenty to taste at the Downtown Denver Partnership’s 26th annual Taste of Colorado, but DDP spokeswoman Sarah Neumann promises there will be plenty to see, as well. ÅgItÅfs a spectacle,Åh she says. ÅgItÅfll be great people-watching.Åh
Because the festival (which ends today) is expected to draw half a million of said people over the course of Labor Day weekend, there’s little doubt that will be true, but the party really gets going tonight at 5:30 p.m. with the camp-tastic appearance of Motown’s own Four Tops — best known for their 1965 hit “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)” — whose members, now mostly in their seventies, still rock some badass sequined suits.
And if that don’t suit you, Neumann says, there are lots of other things to do. Like going to check out the birds of prey brought out by the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, or learning from the Boy Scouts of America how to be an Eagle Scout. (Other attractions do not involve birds — giant turkey legs notwithstanding.) In any case, Neumann insists upon at least one thing: “You won’t leave hungry.”
