Five events, one venue: That’s the plan for the Mercury Cafe’s New Year’s Eve Celebration. And with numbers like that, the evening is sure to have something for everyone.

The celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner, classical music and jazz provided by Local Color, Ron Tomasic and Nexus, then moves on to an erotic-poetry reading accompanied by belly dancers at 7 p.m. From there, the events split off into a 10 p.m. dance party with the David Booker Swingtet in one room and Gora Gora Orkestar in another. “It’s never that loud, though,” says the Merc’s legendary owner, Marilyn Megenity. “People can choose to talk or dance.” And since this is New Year’s Eve, there will be plenty of organic beers, wines and spirits to choose from, as well as loads of munchies until breakfast is served at 1:30 a.m. But the fun will continue until dawn.

The Mercury Cafe is at 2199 California Street; prices range from $6 to $20. For more information, go to www.mercurycafe.com or call 303-294-9258.
