The intersection of love and technology is a dangerous one, fraught with awkwardness, insecurity, misunderstanding and pain. In short, it’s a recipe for hilarity, and it serves as the focus of Love, Sex & the Second City, a “romantic dot comedy” (whatever that means) from the legendary troupe that shares its name.

Culled from a variety of new and old Second City sketches, the show is a semi-coherent narrative that tackles such subjects as online dating, iPhone obsession and OnStar romance in typical Second City style — which is to say, heavily improvised. And the touring company has got some serious improvisational chops: The cast includes luminaries like Jimmy Carlson and Amanda Blake Davis, plus a weird video appearance from Fred Willard as the spokesman for a dating site called iLove.

“We’re thrilled to be returning to Denver,” says the troupe’s Kelly Leonard. “Plus, we kind of miss Kyle Orton and his neck beard.”

Please, folks, they’ll be here all month. Love, Sex & the Second City continues its run through October 9 at the Garner Galleria Theatre, in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. For tickets ($24 and up), a full schedule or more information, call 303-893-4100 or visit www.denvercenter.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 3 p.m.; Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 13. Continues through Oct. 9, 2011
