Ring in the New Year with everyone’s favorite handicapped-molestation-victim-turned world-beater. That would be the Who’s Tommy, and the entire rock opera will be performed by Captain Quirk & Friends tonight at Miners Alley Playhouse. “I used to play in bands in college, and we’d do pieces of Tommy,” explains producer and director Rick Bernstein. “It’s just brilliant – one of the best albums ever made.” After the performance of Tommy – complete with audio-visual staging elements — Captain Quirk & Friends will perform covers from other classic rock bands until midnight.
In addition to the concert, which starts at 7 p.m., Miners Alley will serve hors d’oeuvres at intermission and offer a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. And if you want to make a night of it, the Table Mountain Inn across the street is offering two packages: one includes the concert, a room for one night and breakfast the next morning for $199 per couple; the other adds dinner to the mix and runs $299 per couple.
Miners Alley is at 1224 Washington Avenue in Golden; tickets for the concert are $40 per person or $70 per couple. For more info, go to www.minersalley.com.
