As usual, we’re rounding up your options for the weekend to come and the following week, and making a recommendation of one can’t-miss film. Pick of the Week: Back to the Future
Where: Esquire Theatre, 600 Downing Street
When: Midnight Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14
Why?: How about because it’s an all-time sic-fi comedy classic? How about because it’s probably already one of your favorite movies? How about because a lot of you young whippersnappers have probably never seen it on the big screen? Pick your reason, but don’t miss Robert Zemeckis’s goofball time-travel classic, and remember: Save the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, save the world (or at least your own existence in it).

Where: Starz FilmCenter, Tivoli building on the Auraria Campus
When: 10 p.m. Friday August 13 and Saturday August 14
Why?: Quentin Tarantino adapts an Elmore Leonard novel full of arms dealers, double-crosses, romance and murder. What other reason do you need? Okay, how about a cast that includes Pam Grier, Robert De Niro, Michael Keaton and Robert Forster? It’s not Tarantino’s best, but it’s still a solid film that’s aged well.

My Neighbor Totoro
Where: Thin Man parking lot, 2015 East 17th Avenue
When: Wednesday, August 18 at dusk (9 p.m. ish)
Why?: Another gem from anime master Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle et al.)! This one is about two young girls and the adventures they have with the forest spirits near their new home. It has a cat bus — that’s a bus that’s a cat. Plus, it’s free! Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, though.
