Every ski resort in Colorado got hit with snow from Sunday’s storm, good news for the Spring Break set and anybody looking to get some last days in before the season’s over, and even better news for the local economy: All that white stuff equals lots of green stuff for the ski resorts and the entire winter recreation world, which, recession be damned, is having a record year (Snowsports Industries America reports industry-wide sales for the season hitting $2.8 billion in January). Do your part: Grab your gear and keep the stoke alive for a few more weeks; it’s still snowing at resorts across the state.
If you’re not on Spring Break, now’s the time to call in some of those “sick” days and start acting like you are. Get this morning’s snow report and get to it while you can: Closing day is coming up quick. Howelsen Hill in Steamboat closed for the season on Sunday; Buttermilk, Powderhorn, Purgatory, Ski Cooper, SolVista, Sunlight and Telluride will close down after this weekend. Most of the rest will be closed after Easter Sunday (April 24) if not sooner. Echo Mountain’s holding out until May 1, and, for those of you looking to blur your seasons, A-Basin’s hoping to stay open until June 5.
