Snowboarder Jeremy Jones and Teton Gravity Research teamed up last season to bring out the biggest adventure film of the year, and the Denver premiere is tonight at the Oriental Theatre. Deeper: A Snowboard Adventure Into the Unknown follows Jones and friends ( Travis Rice, Xavier De Le Rue, Josh Dirksen, Ryland Bell, Jonaven Moore, Forrest Shearer, Johan Olofsson, Lucas Debari, and Tom Burt) to the steep and deep in Antarctica, Alaska, Europe, California, and Utah. It’s also a meditation on the, um, deeper aspects of snowboarding and the ongoing the push to explore the unknown and the untouched. Check out the trailer and more info after the jump.
Tickets are $14 online or $16 at the door for the 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows, and include a comp lift ticket to Monarch Mountain (go ahead and spring for the season pass… we gave Monarch Best Ski Pass Deal honors in our 2010 Best of Denver special issue). Better yet, a portion of ticket and DVD sales will benefit 1% For The Planet, Surfrider Foundation, Protect Our Winters, and BICEP, green causes in line with Jones’ personal work to save the mountain environments that make his deepest adventures (and yours) possible.
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $20,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
