This week Vail Resorts announced the early buyer’s price for its 2010/2011 Epic Pass: A $49 down payment March 15 through May 31 guarantees a price of $599 for unlimited, unrestricted skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Heavenly.

There’s also an unrestricted Epic 7-Pack for $449, an unrestricted/unlimited Summit Pass (Breck, Keystone, A-Basin) for $409, and a new unrestricted/unlimited Keystone/A-Basin pass for $359.

Perhaps coincidentally, Vail Resorts also announced its Fiscal 2010 second quarter results today and it’s not a pretty picture, with year over year revenue down nearly 33 percent thanks to real estate woes (Vail’s mountain and lodging numbers were actually up, 3.6 percent and 2.0 percent respectively).

“The strength of our resort business has led to strong free cash flow over the past twelve months before real estate activities, despite the state of the economy,” reports CEO Rob Katz, managing to put a nice spin on those numbers. “Overall, our balance sheet position remains strong.”

The losses apparently haven’t hampered Vail Resorts’ 2010 discretionary expenditure plans to install a new high speed chairlift serving Vail Mountain’s Back Bowls and expand Vail mountain’s Adventure Ridge
