You’re never too old to have style: That’s the message in Lithuanian-born filmmaker Lina Plioplyte’s documentary Advanced Style, screening tonight at the Sie FilmCenter as part of the Denver Film Society’s Women+Film series. Plioplyte, who financed the film through crowdfunding, will appear via Skype at the event to discuss the seven extraordinary women portrayed in the doc, which was inspired by blogger Ari Seth Cohen’s regular photographic feature showcasing devastatingly chic women over the age of sixty.

The women in the film, who range in age from 62 to 95, revel in lipstick and youthful hair color, and richly drape themselves in creative attire and accessories. They’re adorable and completely quotable, which is reason enough for anyone afraid of getting old to celebrate: “You must dress for the theater of life, every day!” says Lynn Dell, owner of New York’s Off Broadway boutique, who’s known as the Countess of Glamour. And 82-year-old beauty consultant and former opera singer Joyce Carpati totally expresses her fashion joie de vivre when she says, “I never wanted to look young; I wanted to look great!”

See the film and hear from Plioplyte at 7 p.m. at the Sie, 2510 East Colfax Avenue; admission is $10 to $12. Go to denverfilm.org for details.
