The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.

$25,000

Baby clothes in cardboard boxes, old coffee mugs stacked like Jenga towers, VCRs with Animal House stuck in the player and 25-cent price tags as far as the eye can see. It’s garage-sale season. And what’s better than browsing through other people’s junk? Getting nicely toasted while browsing through other people’s junk, natch.

On the last Sunday of each month, 3 Kings Tavern hosts an open-to-anyone-of-drinking-age Garage Sale extravaganza, complete with drink specials and free pool. Stop by the Tavern, 60 South Broadway, today for this month’s flea-market fiesta; DJs Dogboy, Christerious, Garrett 302 and Kurt Ohlen (you might recognize a couple of these faces from local boogie-pop heroes the Orangu-Tones) will spin out the evening with monkey mixes of garage, soul and rockabilly.

The wheel-n-deal starts at 6 p.m., and admission is free. Bring your own unwanted goods or just peruse what’s there. For more information, log on to www.myspace.com/3kingstavern or call 303-777-7352.

Last Sunday of every month, 6 p.m., 2006
