Proving that Boulder has some cachet in the entrepreneurial world, NewCo — a one-day event that gathers together businesspeople and investors with innovative companies in cities here and abroad — has added the foothill republic to its 2014 itinerary, which also spreads as far afield as New York City, the United Kingdom and Amsterdam.
Described as a combined conference and open-house tour, NewCo is a networking incubator for inter-business connections that forgoes the old meeting-at-a-hotel construct for a newer, more vital model. And you can thank the Boulder business resource Engage Colorado for bringing this latest thing to Colorado. “Boulder is a perfect venue for a NewCo event,” says Engage Colorado co-founder Rich Maloy. “Because of its vibrant startup community combined with high-growth companies, the area has fostered an innovation economy that is recognized throughout the world. NewCo will take attendees behind the scenes of Boulder businesses and offer an experience unlike any other business showcase the city has seen.”
Thirty-five local companies throughout Boulder, from Google’s Boulder offices to the Skoop natural-foods startup, will open their doors today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for talks, tours and workshops; register online at bdr.newco.co for more information and to choose your personalized schedule.
