Most miniature golf courses go to sleep in the winter months, but what do they dream about? At the Hyland Hills-run Adventure Golf and Raceway in Westminster, those dreams are live and lit up in technicolor hues for Adventure Golf Lights, a new holiday lighting attraction with 35,000 strands of bulbs. As part of the display, such iconic summertime favorites as Woody the giant talking tree, the erupting volcano and the fireball-spewing Polynesian temple god have been re-imagined with lighting to bring a holiday glow to the dark nights of winter.

“This is a whole new thing for the holiday season,” says Hyland Hills spokeswoman Joann Cortéz. “We have three routes through three different golf courses, and you can even play mini-golf if weather permits.” Along with the obvious attractions, Golf Lights also includes live entertainment, concessions (including hot chocolate and adult beverages) and, on selected nights, visits with Santa.

It’s just the place to bring a carload of housebound children during this endless after-Christmas vacation time. The attraction is open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. daily through January 3, at 9650 Sheridan Boulevard; for information and tickets, $10, go to adventuregolfandraceway.com or call 303-650-7587.
