What are you doing on Friday, March 1? Head to The Church for Artopia 2019, our annual arts extravaganza that promises to be the party of the year.

This year's bash will be a celebration of hip-hop through the decades, a real blast from the past and into the future. Again curated by Jolt, the Artopia lineup includes artists Swek, Charlie Ricks, the BBoy Factory, the Freak Show, 004 Connec, Markham Maes (aka Shitty Kitten), Dent, Chubby Robot, Armando Geneyro, Tukeone (Noah Baker), Burn Unit, Olivia Lucero, Jacky Voice (Jack Avila), Lady Severe, BGirl Vendetta, Tares, Jher, Verse, Meps, Cris 2DX, June (DADE WEAR), Tesoe (Night Shift) and BBoy Villain.

The evening will also include beats and performances from Deep Rawk Dave, DJ A-L, DJ Stretch, DJ Skeme, ICE C.R.E.A.M. and Big Wheel Electrosoul. (Check out the full artist/entertainment lineup here.)

"Hip-hop has taken the world by storm and shaped culture and industry all over the globe, allowing youth from any and all backgrounds to participate," says Jolt. "Hip-hop culture is more than rap; it's a lifestyle that has not only birthed a billion-dollar music industry, but also influenced everything from the fine-art world to video games, fashion, theater, language, politics, film and dance."

And hip-hop, which has been big in Denver since the beginning, will be on full display at Artopia. "In an attempt to celebrate the many, many avenues in which hip-hop culture expresses itself, we will create an experience to celebrate graffiti art, fine art, fashion, music, dance and history all at once," Jolt continues, "with real hip-hop remaining the catalyst."

The party starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, for VIP ticket holders, who'll have access to a VIP lounge all night with free food (including special fare from Sushi Cup) and beverages until 7 p.m., as well as a chance to be styled by Zoid Ham and No One Special, then have their portraits taken by Focus4Design.

Doors open to general admission ticket holders at 7:30 p.m., and after 10 p.m., a late-admission ticket still buys hours of action: The Church will be hopping until 1:30 a.m.

Tickets are $65 for VIP, $35 for general admission, and $20 for late-night. Grab yours now at westwordartopia.com, and see you March 1 at the party of the year!
