And Blue is fucking fun to watch: His work is ever-evolving, though he's best known for telling stories about his experience living with cerebral palsy, dealing with the disability with laughter rather than fear. His condition not only inspired the humor he calls "palsy punch," but it also landed him a slot on the U.S. Paralympic soccer team. Lately, though, Blue says, his work has been inspired by "my kids and my wife, all the usual random shit that happens to me every day."
The Comedy Central special was a substantial step forward for his career. "People always used to recognize me from Last Comic Standing," he notes. "Now people see me walking around and say, 'Hey, I saw you on Comedy Central,' which is great. It's been a really nice progression." But it's also nice to be back on his hometown stage, Blue says: "I'm just grateful to be cheering people up for a living."
