MileHiCon 43 went down over the weekend at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center, and photographer Stephen Cummings was there to capture what SciFi fans do in their down time. Among his pics was this gem. Feel free to write your own caption for it in the comments section below. The best one gets our unyielding admiration and respect.

Cummings' explanation for what exactly is going on in the photo is on Page 2 of this post. For now, enjoy these selected photos from MileHiCon 43.

An explanation of that curious first photo is on the next page.

"So there's a witch's hat on the floor there and he's actually lost [the hat] and had to do the Mexican hat dance. I walked in on the tail end of his speech and he said, "So I lost this bet and now I have to do the Mexican hat dance.' This was about 10 p.m. Saturday. Everybody was just pumped, yelling, laughing and having a great time. It was hilarious, there wasn't a single person laughing their butt off." - Stephen Cummings, photographer

So there you have it.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
