By day, the Ice Bar at Uley’s Cabin at Crested Butte is best known as a high-end, on-mountain, reservations-recommended dining experience for the pampered powder chaser. But Wednesday through Saturday nights, it hosts five-course gourmet meals for diners who travel by sleigh for the experience.

Tonight’s Full Moon Party, however, is another beast entirely. “I don’t know what it is about the full moon, but these parties have been incredibly fun and incredibly popular ever since we started hosting them,” says Crested Butte Mountain Resort events manager Patti Hensley. “The best part is when the clouds part and you get a great view of the tip of Mount Crested Butte from the cabin.”

The night starts with a climb up the Lower Twister ski run (bring your skins, splitboards or snowshoes, or borrow gear from the Crested Butte Rental and Demo Center) to Uley’s Cabin, where a bonfire and s’mores pits await — and where chef Chris Schlaudecker will serve up warm bowls of chili and fresh-baked bread.

“Tickets are $20 and include the food plus a beer or non-alcoholic beverage, s’mores fixin’s and a $5 donation to KBUT, our local community radio station,” Hensley says. Call 970-349-2275 for reservations and details.
