"Loveland is a beautiful place to ride your motorcycle – it's a great opportunity to bring a rally to Northern Colorado, not only for our local motorcycle enthusiasts, but riders in the surrounding areas," says spokeswoman Nicole Yost.
World-champion extreme stunt rider Rhett Rotten brings sideways cycling to the rally with his Wall of Death show, which will play out alongside stages hosting explosive rock and roll from Bret Michaels, Jackyl and more. A fully functioning Harley set up on a stationary platform will give novice enthusiasts a chance at "riding" a motorcycle for the first time. Plus, though the weekend is open to all, Monday's schedule of events will focus on games and motorcycle shows just for kids and families.
Thunder in the Rockies kicks off today at noon and runs through September 1 at Thunder Mountain, 4250 Byrd Avenue in Loveland. The rally is free; some events require tickets that can be purchased at the gathering. Motorcycles can park on location; off-site parking for cars with shuttles to the rally will be provided. See thunderintherockies.com for details and a full schedule of events and performances.
