Laree will transform Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret into a 1940s version of New York City’s Versailles Club tonight as she pays tribute to the French chanteuse in a one-woman show titled Pure Piaf: The Life and Music of Edith Piaf. She’ll perform sixteen Piaf classics while telling stories from the international star’s tumultuous life, which was filled with addiction, tragic loss and lots of love.
“It’s this intoxicating experience where you’re completely enveloped in this world of hers of love and life and passion,” says Laree. “Kind of like when you have a really great meal or you’re drinking the best wine you’ve ever tasted: It’s so all-encompassing that you get lost in it.”
Pure Piaf plays tonight at 8 p.m. at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street, with additional shows on January 18 and 25. Tickets, $25, are available at 303-293-0075 or at lannies.com. For more information, visit purepiaf.com.
