Because he’d like to share his journey, Bellows will be keeping an online travel journal. “I feel like a lot of people in this country have lost their idealism and abandoned their dreams in exchange for a more solid future,” he explains. “I’m trying to reverse that notion: If I take a risk, maybe I can show people what those risks are, and that they can be taken, and they should be taken. If each person is contributing a positive role in society, maybe they can help make that drop in the bucket of positive reinforcement a little bit bigger.”
A good start to any open-ended, self-searching voyage is to get rid of some baggage, both physical and emotional, and that’s why Bellows will host a Randall’s Going Away Party tonight at Space Gallery, where he’ll hobnob with friends and attempt to unload both his worldly possessions and some of his photographic works. The public is invited to join in starting at 7 p.m. at Space, 765 Santa Fe Drive. For more about Bellows and his travels, go to rb3photography.com.
