And heirlooms are, in some cases, easier to grow, because they have been tried and true for a lot of years. These are things that have been unaltered, some of them, since the late 1800s."

So don't be daunted by the prospect of diversifying your produce profile -- get a jump on heirloom-growing this year at More Secrets From My Grandma's Garden, a slide show and talk with author Don Eversoll (whose book is appropriately titled Secrets From My Grandma's Garden).
