What exactly is the Swishing Party that the Denver Library’s Fresh City Life and Dazzle are putting together this evening? “It’s a fashion swap meet,” explains the library’s Chris Loffelmacher. “Dazzle hosted our Knit for Our Troops kick-off party, and it just exploded with slightly snockered knitters. There’s been kind of a mutual admiration society between Dazzle and Fresh City Life since then, and we’ve been looking for something else to partner on. They’re supportive of local fashion, and it was a great match.”
Here’s how it works: Dig through your closet for a few items of high-quality, gently used accessories (something you’d be proud to give to a close friend). Bring them to Dazzle, 930 Lincoln Street, between 4 and 4:30 p.m. today; while you enjoy a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvre, organizers will be working to display everyone’s items to their best advantage. Browse the wares carefully and position yourself close to the object of your desire, for at 5:30 p.m., the swish begins. Claim your favorite piece of fashion before someone else gets to it first! (“No biting, scratching or hair-pulling,” cautions Loffelmacher.)
A few fashion designers will be on hand to coach swishers on updating outdated looks, making something old into something chic and contemporary. The party is free, but you must bring swappable fashion with you for admission; RSVP at www.denverlibrary.org/fresh.
