Halloween is over, which means it's already time to get in the Christmas spirit. Kick off the holiday season on the 16th Street Mall with free hot chocolate, specialty food booths, handcrafted items and much more. It's never too early to start shopping — or to get in the spirit.

McNichols Building

Stop by the newly renovated McNichols Building as free fun unreels through the Denver Film Festival. You might catch a free movie, explore virtual reality or nibble on some popcorn; there are also some cool panels, but they'll set you back $11. Click here for the complete lineup.

Open Music Sessions | First Friday Celebration

7 p.m. Friday, free

It's a heck of a free night at Denver Open Media. You can enjoy live honky-tonk from the Hang Rounders and comedy from Timmi Lasley; there will also be interviews and clips with filmmakers in town for the Denver Film Festival. And don't forget to grab free food from Sexy Pizza and Illegal Pete's.
Horndribble Hangout! New Monster Friends From Horn Dribbles

The Horndribble monsters have been in hiding for a while, but creator Lucas Richards searched the globe and found them, as well as a few new ones. Check out the magical world of the furry little creatures at Lowbrow tonight.
Pussy Bros. Presents Chris Charpentier

Our boy Chris Charpentier returns to the Denver tonight alongside a slew of funny folks. Out-of-town guest Joe Messina will join locals Jose McCall and Haley Driscoll for a joke-filled evening. Drop a donation to keep the yuks flowing.

Penny Admission for Denver Arts Week
MCA Denver
10 a.m. Saturday-Sunday, 1¢

Scan the sidewalk and you should be able to scrounge up your admission to the MCA. In honor of Denver Arts Week, you can flash your Colorado ID and get a penny entry to the museum, where you can check out the can't-miss exhibit by Kim Dickey as well as a show by Nathan Carter and Bodacioussss. Since you're saving so much money, go up on the rooftop and buy a beer.

Breck Brew x Never Summer Celebrate Opening Day

6 p.m. Saturday, free

It's a tradition for Never Summer Industries and Breckenridge Brewery to collaborate on a special-edition snowboard. Nick Hughes designed this year's board, and tonight you'll get the chance to meet him and then party the night away. MF Ruckus will kick out the jams; take a break from dancing and see Never Summer's snowboard film, 25. You can also get your shred stick waxed for free and play all kinds of games.
BYOB Warehouse Party supporting the Denver Innocence Project
The Bakery Arts Warehouse

The Bakery Arts Warehouse is hosting a benefit for the Denver Innocence Project with live music by Jobless, DJ Brick Lee of Treehouse Collective, Sho-Tyme and Dutch Angles. It's BYO, but there's a liquor store conveniently located right across the street.

Read It (Or Not!): Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh

2 p.m. Sunday, free

The Denver Public Library and Warm Cookies of the Revolution are collaborating on this event focusing on the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh and the theme of home. Enjoy a multimedia show from the Changing Denver podcast and then gear up for a discussion of our dynamic landscape. It's part book club, part community discussion, and 100 percent fun.

Salsa Competition & Broncos Football

If you have a killer salsa recipe, bring a sample down to Seedstock and let everybody try it. Or simply show up to snack on other people's creations as you cheer on the Broncos, who'll be facing off against the Raiders.
