Marty Jones Fears Playing Solo, but That’s Not Stopping Him

Marty Jones says he’s comfortable fronting bands, something he’s been doing for three decades — but he’s scared to death of playing by himself. Jones, who’s led the roots and rockabilly groups the Great Unknowns and the Pork Boilin’ Poor Boys, respectively, says there’s nobody to hide behind when playing…

Your Mom’s House Is the New Venue Inside Pearl’s

Last week, we reported that Pearl’s recently brought in two new co-owners to head up the music venue inside the Capitol Hill space that was previously the Beauty Bar, and the Snake Pit before that. Thing was, the owners didn’t unveil the name of the venue until last Friday. So what’s it called? Your Mom’s House.

Grand Opening of a Music Venue at Pearl’s. The Owners Won’t Reveal the Name

After being open for about a year, the Capitol Hill-based neighborhood bar and venue, Pearl’s was in jeopardy of closing. The spot at 603 East 13th Avenue, which had previously been home to Beauty Bar and the Snake Pit before that, even launched an Indiegogo campaign to try to stay afloat. But now, with two new owners on board, as well as a new sound and light systems, with lasers to boot, the venue-side of the bar will focus on live music. The owners will unveil its new name tonight, January 27, at the venue’s grand opening.

But since Dumitru Sajin took over the building last February, he’s been busy giving the spot a much-needed update, and now he is opening the space as the Silver Spur Saloon the first weekend in December.

Dead-Centric Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple Moving Into Former Denver Wrangler Building

Quixote’s True Blue might have changed locations a few times over the last two decades, but the music venue and bar has always been a haven for fans of the Grateful Dead. Although owner Jay Bianchi closed the last Quixote’s incarnation at 314 East 13th Avenue (where it had been for the last four years) at the end of October, he didn’t waste any time opening another spot in a similar vein. Bianchi has taken over the former Denver Wrangler space at 1700 Logan Street and will open Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple there in December.
