After three years, Angel’s is now with the angels, and its sprawling space at 1630 Federal Boulevard overlooking Invesco Field at Mile High has a “for lease” sign.
Although it served Mexican food, Angel’s real draws were the company and the location. And this past August, it also had an amazing view of history: the hours-long line of people waiting to see Barack Obama’s acceptance speech snaked past and then behind Angel’s — along a dirty alley where a tenant was running a meth lab that was busted a couple of years ago. Reporter Joel Warner, who’d visited Angel’s for our 2006 feature on Federal, recognized the site, and snapped this shot as he waited in line.
