I’m assuming that most of you who follow Cafe Society know a thing or ten about our hometown restaurant scene — and now comes your chance to prove it. As part of the ten-year anniversary celebrations at Cook Street School of Fine Cooking, 1937 Market Street, there’s an opportunity for you food-loving freaks to show off your local knowledge of all things culinary.
Here’s the deal: Cook Street has come up with a Foodie Photo Scavenger Hunt, which is essentially all about you running around town like a pig with your snout cut off, taking tons of pictures of yourself completing tasks along the way and uploading a photo album of your snaps to Flickr or Facebook, which a posse of Cook Street peeps will then judge.
For each task completed (smiling pretty in front of Carmine’s on Penn while wearing a necklace strung with macaroni, for example), you’ll receive points, and the person with the most points at the end of the scavenger hunt will win a $3,200 scholarship to the Cook Street 180 Professional Culinary program. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, and you must first register before embarking on the hunt.
Be forewarned that I just completed my own registration and I’m totally going to kick butt. And because I’m super competitive like that, I’ll be chronicling my forward progress in this very space.
