After a four-month delay, Arvada Beer Company will open today at 11 a.m. in a 95-year-old brick building that has been gutted and restored to make room for the brewery and other shops.
“It’s been a long journey, but we are really excited,” says co-owner Kelly Floyd. The delays were caused by problems finding the right material to reinforce the historic structure, but she promises that the brewery will be worth the wait.
For the past several weeks, future customers have been dropping by to help finish the brewery and to ask about the progress. “They just walk in here and want to know, ‘What’s going on? What’s going? What’s going on?’ Now we can tell them,” Floyd says.
When it opens today, Arvada Beer’s tasting room, which can seat 130 people, will have five beers on tap: Goldline IPA, Poolhall Porter, a Mexican lager, Ralston Golden Ale and Olde Town Brown. Floyd and her husband specialize in German- and American-style lagers.

Floyd is an award-winning homebrewer who has won competitions from Colorado to Texas to the East Coast, including the Queen of Beer international contest; she’s upsizing some of her recipes for Arvada Beer’s seven-barrel brewing system.
Arvada Beer will hold a grand opening celebration November 7-8 with a couple of screenings of the documentary Beer Culture. The brewery is located at 5600 Olde Wadsworth Boulevard in Olde Town Arvada.
