The One Concept Restaurant Group (OCRG) continues to make moves in the local dining scene. Its latest: a revamp of the Go Fish Sushi location at 2055 West 136th Avenue in Broomfield, which has been open since 2014 and is set to close after service on January 12.

OCRG began in 2007, when Qun “Ben” Zheng, a Chinese immigrant and sushi chef, opened the original Go Fish at 1 Broadway with Shuang “Sherry” Crossland, who is now the face of the group. She has also spearheaded the launch of SYC Concepts, the high-end offshoot of OCRG.

The group’s portfolio includes Honey Basil Asian Grill on Broadway, Chubby Fish in Thornton, Miya Moon in Lone Tree and Broomfield, Mikaku Ramen & Temaki in Aurora, Bronze Empire near Colorado Boulevard and I-25, and two outposts of Kung Fu Tea.

SYC Concepts currently operates Sushi by SYC, which is located in the same shopping plaza as Bronze Empire. It’s an omakase concept that added a new à la carte menu in late December. Also in the works is Blossom by SYC, which is expected to open this year in the former El Chingon space in LoHi.

Now, another SYC Concepts project is in the works.

While Go Fish Broomfield will shut its doors this month, “this is not goodbye,” notes an Instagram post announcing the news. “This is a transformation. This space is about to enter an entirely new era. Coming summer 2026, Broomfield will welcome Yuzu by SYC, a concept we have been meticulously crafting for over two years. This is not just another restaurant. It is our most ambitious, refined, and personal project to date. Expect an unforgettable dining experience featuring elevated sushi, world-class omakase, hand-rolled temaki, and an immersive izakaya atmosphere, created to redefine Japanese dining in north Denver.”

It’s another example of the growing trend of independent operators focusing on growth outside Denver — which is a win for those living in chain-heavy suburbs.
