A: Mattie’s House of Mirrors (1942 Market Street; 303-297-9600) might reflect just what you’re looking for. Although the setting allows for intimacy, something about the decor — could be the fact that the space was once a brothel — is rather masculine, and that tends to put guys at ease. I’d call it a fancy restaurant, but the prices aren’t outrageous; and while the service matches the classy space, it isn’t overbearing or condescending. The food, a combination of classics and contemporary, is superb, with plenty of man-friendly steaks and hearty pastas.
