Lunar New Year 2026 landed on February 17, ushering in the Year of the Horse, which symbolizes strength, vitality and perseverance — all of which seem apt at the moment. Chefs all over the city celebrated the occasion with special events and dishes, many of which feature culinary homages to their own roots and cultures.
Meanwhile, this weekend brings the big annual celebration at the Far East Center. And some of the city’s top restaurants will continue to dish out specials.

The city’s prime Asian cultural hub is hosting its 35th annual Lunar New Year celebration this month. The vibrant community event celebrates Asian culture and history with lion and dragon dance performances and other entertainment, plus a Lunar New Year Market that features cultural cuisine from local vendors. The cultural event at the Far East Center is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in AAHNPI culture and decadent cuisine. Tickets are free and can be reserved online.

This uptown Asian eatery, known for its ping pong and Peking duck, is celebrating Lunar New Year all February long. Visit the covered, heated patio that’s been decked out for the occasion and nosh on the special dumpling menu that includes options such as Handstand Prawn Dumplings, Pan Seared Baby Bao and New Leaf Dumplings, along with limited-time drink specials.
