For a taste of la vie boheme, stroll over to Brasserie Rouge. This new restaurant pours signature European aperitifs and liqueurs, including Pernod, Benedictine and grappa, but nothing says francais like champagne — and half of Brasserie Rouge’s fourteen specialty drinks overflow with the bubbly. As mixed by master cocktail chef Oran Feild, the Ginger 69 ($7.50), made with a homemade ginger-lemon syrup and Massenez Ginger Liqueur, topped with champagne and served on the rocks, is trés refreshing. But the lemony Lush, creamy Indecent Proposal and smooth Black Velvet Guinness spritzer are all contenders, too. Enjoy them while sitting on the breezy patio or cuddled into one of the cafe’s red banquettes. But no matter how many pommes frites and steamed mussels you consume, be sure to save room for dessert, because the goat-cheese cheesecake is magnifique.
